HOLDING FAST TO FAITH!

1Ti 1:19  Holding fast to faith (that leaning of the entire human personality on God in absolute trust and confidence) and having a good (clear) conscience. By rejecting and thrusting from them [their conscience], some individuals have made shipwreck of their faith.  Holding faith, and a good conscience..... By "faith" is meant, not the grace of faith, but the doctrine of faith, a sense in which it is often used in this epistle; see 1Ti 3:9 and the "holding" of it does not intend a mere profession of it, and a retaining of that without wavering, which is to be done by all believers; but a holding it forth in the ministry of the word, in opposition to a concealing or dropping it, or any part of it; and a holding it fast, without wavering, and in opposition to a departure from it or any cowardice about it and against all posers: to which must be added, a good conscience; the conscience is not naturally good, but is defiled by sin; and that is only good, which is sprin...

CAN YOU SAY THY WILL,[GOD'S WILL]BE DONE!

"Thy Will be done, as in heaven, so on earth." — Mat 6:10. MANY PEOPLE shrink from God's will. They think that it always means pain, or sorrow, or bereavement. They always feel melancholy when you speak of doing the Will of God.  Alas! how the devil has libeled God. The will of God is the will of a Father. It is the Fatherhood of God going out in action. "It is not the will of your Father that one of these little ones should perish." "This is the will of God, even your sanctification." If only the will of God were done on earth, as it is done in heaven, there would be peace between the nations, and love and happiness in all our homes. Love would cement the union of all men in a city of blessedness. The fact of the world's present condition is no argument against the beneficence and blessedness of the will of God. It is because men will not do the will of God that things are as they are! In our own life we shall never be really right or happy until ...

THE NOW THING!

“Behold, I will do a NEW THING now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert.” (Isa 43:19) The pace of our lives seems to be increasing faster and faster. We are in such a rush from here to there that we really aren’t even here at all. Our conversations are marked with vacant stares as our minds race ahead to what’s next. The next blockbuster movie, the next American Idol, the next American President, the next world crisis, the next scientific breakthrough, the next natural catastrophe, the next scandalous preacher — and so on and so on and so on. “What’s the next big thing that God will do?” a friend recently asked me. The question reveals our predisposition to a faith that is defined by events, rather than by relationship. We are not completely at fault in this, because God certainly does eventful things in our lives, as in all the world. So the conditioning toward this is understandable. However, we must guard aga...

Jesus is condemned to crucifixion.

John 19:1-42 JESUS IS CRUCIFIED A. Jesus is condemned to crucifixion. 1. (John 19:1-4) Pilate hopes to satisfy the mob by having Jesus whipped and mocked. So then Pilate took Jesus and scourged Him. And the soldiers twisted a crown of thorns and put it on His head, and they put on Him a purple robe. Then they said, “Hail, King of the Jews!” And they struck Him with their hands. Pilate then went out again, and said to them, “Behold, I am bringing Him out to you, that you may know that I find no fault in Him.” a. So then Pilate took Jesus and scourged Him: Pilate already declared Jesus “not guilty,” so to scourge Him now was a gross injustice. In doing this, perhaps Pilate thought he could help Jesus, and that the mob would be satisfied with the scourging and mocking. b. Scourged Him: The brutal act of scourging had three purposes. First, it was used to beat the prisoner as a form of punishment. Second, it was used to extract a confession from the prisoner. Finally, in cases of cr...

Do Not Forsake Me, O Lord

Psa 38:1  A Psalm of David; to bring to remembrance and make memorial. O LORD, rebuke me not in Your wrath, neither chasten me in Your hot displeasure. Psa 38:2  For Your arrows have sunk into me and stick fast, and Your hand has come down upon me and pressed me sorely. Psa 38:3  There is no soundness in my flesh because of Your indignation; neither is there any health or rest in my bones because of my sin. Psa 38:4  For my iniquities have gone over my head [like waves of a flood]; as a heavy burden they weigh too much for me. Psa 38:5  My wounds are loathsome and corrupt because of my foolishness. Psa 38:6  I am bent and bowed down greatly; I go about mourning all the day long. Psa 38:7  For my loins are filled with burning; and there is no soundness in my flesh. Psa 38:8  I am faint and sorely bruised [deadly cold and quite worn out]; I groan by reason of the disquiet and moaning of my heart. Psa 38:9...

The Holy Spirit and Prayer!

Please listen to this broadcast Ruling Through Prayer on the Oneplace app!  Most every Christian says they believe in prayer; relatively few of us live as we believe it. In this lesson, Dr. Tony Evans explains how that can change, as he talks about why prayer isn't just something we say, but what we hear as well.  Discover the kind of prayer can pull heaven right down to earth.  http://bit.ly/2FnrqdM 'At that day;' 'In that day you shall ask me nothing. Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whatsoever you shall ask the Father in my Name, He will give it you. Hitherto have you asked nothing in my Name: ask, and you shall receive, that your joy may be full. At that day you shall ask in my Name: and I say not, that I will pray the Father for you, for the Father Himself loves you.'-- John16:23-26. 'Praying in the Holy Spirit, keep yourselves in the love of God.'-- Jud 1:20-21. THE words of John (1Jn 2:12-14) to little children, to young men, and to fathers suggest...

As the holy flock - The Church of Christ, without spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing.

I Will Put My Spirit Within You Eze 36:22-38.   Therefore say to the house of Israel, Thus says the Lord God: I do not do this for your sakes, O house of Israel, but for My holy name's sake, which you have profaned among the nations to which you went. And I will vindicate the holiness of My great name and separate it for its holy purpose from all that defiles it--My name, which has been profaned among the nations, which you have profaned among them--and the nations will know, understand, and realize that I am the Lord; [the Sovereign Ruler, Who calls forth loyalty and obedient service], when I shall be set apart by you and My holiness vindicated in you before their eyes and yours. For I will take you from among the nations and gather you out of all countries and bring you into your own land. Then will I sprinkle clean water upon you, and you shall be clean from all your uncleanness; and from all your idols will I cleanse you. A new heart will I give you and a new spirit will I put ...
