THE CROSSING OF THE RED SEA!

Exodus 14:1-31 A. The pursuit of Pharaoh’s armies. 1. (Exo 14:1-4) God draws Pharaoh to come out against Israel. Now the LORD spoke to Moses, saying: “Speak to the children of Israel, that they turn and camp before Pi Hahiroth, between Migdol and the sea, opposite Baal Zephon; you shall camp before it by the sea. For Pharaoh will say of the children of Israel, ‘They are bewildered by the land; the wilderness has closed them in.’ Then I will harden Pharaoh’s heart, so that he will pursue them; and I will gain honor over Pharaoh and over all his army, that the Egyptians may know that I am the LORD.” And they did so. a. You shall camp before it by the sea: We could say that God set an ambush for Pharaoh. Even after the horror of the death of the firstborn, the change in Pharaoh’s heart was only temporary. He was quick to strike at Israel when he had the chance. b. They are bewildered by the land: This was exactly what God wanted Pharaoh to believe. God told Moses to lead Israel in a way t...

THE LORD SHALL FIGHT FOR YOU!

Exo 14:13-14.  Moses answered the people. He said, "Don't be afraid. Stand firm. You will see how the LORD will save you today. Do you see those Egyptians? You will never see them again.  The LORD will fight for you. Just be still. "  14:1-9 Chapter 14 is one of the most dramatic in the whole Bible. The Lord directed the children of Israel southward to Pi Hahiroth, somewhere west of the Red Sea. This made escape seem impossible, but made the subsequent miracle more marvelous. Pharaoh thought they were trapped and set out after them with his army of six hundred choice chariots, and all the chariots of Egypt with captains over every one of them. Pharaoh's overtaking the two million apparently helpless Israelites camping by the sea and shut in between the two is probably the origin of the popular idiom for a terrible dilemma: "Between the devil (Pharaoh) and the deep blue (Red!) sea." 14:10-14 When the children of Israel raised their eyes and saw the Egypti...

The Whole Armor of God!

Contents: Domestic life of Spirit-filled believers. Warfare of the believer. Characters: God, Christ, Holy Spirit, Paul, Satan, Tychicus. Conclusion: The Christian life is a warfare, a struggle not only with common calamities and inner desires, but with opposing forces of the powers of darkness which seek to destroy the testimony of the believer. It is therefore requisite that the Christian soldier be stout-hearted and well armed with spiritual weapons which God supplies. The sword of the Spirit and the access of prayer are weapons against which Satan is powerless. Key Word: Warfare, Eph 6:11-12. Strong Verses: Eph 6:8, Eph 6:10, Eph 6:11, Eph 6:12, Eph 6:13, Eph 6:17, Eph 6:18. Striking Facts: Eph 6:10. The Lord Jesus has met Satan at every point and defeated him. It is therefore dangerous for us to be strong except in Him Who is the Victor. Our natural courage is perfect cowardice; our natural strength is perfect weakness, but our sufficiency is always in Him. Amen! Thank you H...

To refuse Him is to perish.

Hebrews 12v26-29 God's Work in Salvation - Devotional - Truth For Life https://www.truthforlife.org/resources/daily-devotionals/2/26/1/ chapter 12 contrast God's revelation at Sinai with His revelation in and through Christ.  The incomparable privileges and glories of the Christian faith are not to be treated lightly. God is speaking, inviting, wooing. To refuse Him is to perish. Those who disobeyed the voice of God as it was heard in the law were punished accordingly.  When privilege is greater, responsibility is also greater.  In Christ, God has given His best and final revelation. Those who reject His voice as it now speaks from heaven in the gospel are more responsible than those who broke the law. Escape is impossible. At Sinai God's voice caused an earthquake. But when He speaks in the future His voice will also produce a “heavenquake.” This was, in substance, predicted by the prophet Haggai (Hag 2:6): “Once more (it is a little while) I will shake heaven a...

'ARE YOU NOW BEING MADE PERFECT IN THE FLESH HAVING BEGUN IN THE SPIRIT!'

The Holy Spirit and Going On with God Did you receive the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith? Are you so foolish? Having begun in the Spirit, are you now being made perfect by the flesh? (Gal 3:2-3) The work of the Holy Spirit is required for people to start out with God through new birth and justification.  The Holy Spirit must also be at work in believers if they are to go on with God in growth and sanctification.  These truths are declared in Gal 3:2-3 (which we viewed earlier regarding  "The Inability of the Law to Sanctify").  The opening portion of our present scripture passage uses a question to address starting out with God.  "Did you receive the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?"  The answer to this question is obvious. No one could ever have the Spirit of God come to indwell them on the basis of their performance before God's law. Only the "hearing of faith" could ever cause that. The Holy Spi...

The Temptation of Jesus!

Then was Jesus led up of the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil —  Matthew 4:1 Christ's Temptation: “ It Was Real”! Whatever view we take of the temptation—whether it was an inward struggle or an actual scene—the one thing to remember is its intense reality.  Prayerfully and reverently we must strive to realize that the temptations of Jesus were unutterably severe!  It is not difficult to realize Christ's brotherhood in suffering. It is very difficult to do so in temptation. And one great reason of that is, that in our temptations, we are so conscious of sinful impulses within.  But when we remember that our temptations sometimes touch not what is worst, but what is noblest in us; when we think that without the sorest and fiercest trial, the thought of sinlessness has little meaning, then we dimly perceive how intense temptation might be to a spotless and holy Savior.  There is nothing more heavenly than a mother's love, yet sometimes a mother...
